The Bermuda Triangle

or whatever their shorts.
(Scroll Over) It is surpising that there is not a charge of Death Panel in this wild shot by the media, but there does seem to be a lot of hot air about a task force that has been around awhile.
[Odd segue? Consider the populist problem of Geitner (shorts) and whether the right replacement would even be approved by the Right, over the question (their) of the task force even being related to health reform let alone (whatever) the administration. (see Paradigms/Huff Po/Yale]

[UPDATE: 11-21-09 Point...man? Laying it on thick, Geitner is not the pointman...He has been commended but there are the Sec. of Labor and Commerce that should also weigh in. Geitner might just be the forward or center.]

Cap and Trade?

[American Clean Energy and Security Act: Waxman/Markey Bill [** correction below]
Energy Bill narrowly passes House.(Carol Browner: White House Energy Advisor)
The Progress Report at Think Progress.

It seems that if the criticisms this energy plan, as well as that of the public component(The Ed Show) of health care reform have any merit, it will mean that there is no invisible hand of the market. If the competition that a not-for-profit health care option provides will do in the insurance industry, and if a market solution to incentivize pollution reduction is not feasible, then the market might not be the arena that solutions can be found. Maybe the solution would then be found in demand side economics. And given the compromises that comprise the effort to be non-partisan[*], further amendments should be well considered as to not weaken the progress or threaten failure, as further pressure for change might result.

[Pre-post err us missing link? generational accounting. Suffice to say: accounting is not economics nor math accounting...for values, let alone the right "scoring".]

Monkey Business

I had a better punchline but a call intersected my thought process, regarding the media cacophony regarding a recent tragedy.

Get Over It! Was the cry that I lost and we may be better for it, but local reaction as well, is overblown. That line may return to me or be better lost, but the carton* and the shock are part of freedom of the press, and the surprise should be moderated by this intersection:
The New York Post and The Washington Times- No Shock!
The Washington Post and The New York Times- No Awe!
Not to mention the bottom line of shock and awe.
Duh-Oh! Thanks Homer** or is it But-Head?

[* I can't recall this choice of word, but was somehow multi-tasking. Carton is a word for package, but I still feel a blank. Carton is also a place where the missing are hoped to be linked with their loved ones. I was already into the packaging of the next lines, so it may have been fortunate to have skipped a clue. I knew I would return but not for this difficulty.

** The comedy is sometimes a tragedy as in Greek and that is probably the root of many problems if not the media.]

[Duoh! Cartoon. Now...That's the ticket. Hmmmm?

[I separate the tragedy of the dangerous monkey and the disgusting cartoon.]

Local Selection of RON SIMS

King County Executive Ron Sims
selected Deputy Secretary of HUD

King County Council Larry Phillips is in the wings. Having preemptively thrown his hat in the ring for King County Executive.

Rumblings are that he will be fighting for credibility from some factions of his own party for his apparent neglect of unincorporated parts of the county exemplified by the closing of pools. [FULL DISCLOSURE: This is not from the links here but from my participation as King County Committeeman for my Legislative District Democratic Party.]
